14 year old girl raped, 6 under arrest
Maldives Police Services has revealed that two 18 year olds and 4 minors have been arrested in connection to sexually molesting and raping a 14 year old girl from Holhudhoo of Noonu atoll.
At the weekly Thursday briefing held by the Maldives Police Services, Inspector Abdul Manan Yousuf , Head of Family and Child Protection Unit said that the 14 year old girl from Holhudhoo was raped on the 31 of last month. Manan said that she was grabbed by a gang of 6, when she on her way home after buying something from a shop. She was then taken to the beach and raped. According to Manan 4 out of group of 6 had raped her.
“The group had molested the 14 year old and raped her, they took her out of every body’s site, near Watnaiya’s antenna, and at least 4 of them raped her. All six of them are under our custody, investigation , so far, reveals that two 18 year olds and 2 boys under the age of 18 had raped her, the other two were aiding the gang , the child is under severe trauma , and is currently under treatment in the hospital” Inspector Manan said.
Police have only revealed the names of the two 18 year olds. They are Mohamed Hameed age 18 of Plaza of Holhudhoo of Noonu atoll and Ali Shareef age 18 of Shadhiyaa Villa of the same island.
Inspector Manan also called on parents and guardians to be more vigilant when letting children go unaccompanied

This is a shame that being a 100% muslim country these types of crimes are going like this.In the islands people are living at the mercy of these criminals.There is no policing and law to deal with this.If sever punishment is given to these criminal it will be a deterence for others who assult the dignity and self respect of the Maldivian girls.
