Adhaalath Party will raise their voice in the government formed by MDP coalition
A third of the government formed by MDP coalition led by presidential candidate Mohamed Nasheed (Anni) will be from Jumhoory coalition, Adhaalath Party has revealed.
President of Adhaalath Party’s Council of Religious Scholars Dr.Abdul Majeed Bari speaking at a news conference held at Dhi TV studio expressed that a third of the government formed under the leadership of Mohamed Nasheed by MDP coalition will from Jumhoory coalition and as such Adhaalath Party will raise their voice in the government formed by MDP coalition. Majeed expressed that the religious policies of MDP coalition’s government will be shaped by Adhaalath Party.
“We are talking about an Alliance formed by parties sharing 60 percent of the people’s votes, however we not just working to seek support MDP coalition’s leader Anni, because we have a share in his government, or because we want to secure a key position, we all are working for a common objective, to reform the country, to usher democratic reforms , I know for sure Adhaalath Party will have a share in the government formed by MDP coalition, Adhaalath Party is part of the Jumhoory Coalition” Majeed said.
Majeed further expressed that problems the incumbent faces in establishing a free and independent institution to promote and protect the country’s religious unity and identity will not encountered in a government formed by MDP coalition.
“In the past the Supreme Council on Islamic Affairs is under pressure from the government and will according to the government’s translation of issues, even members for our independent and free religious institution will appointed by the Majlis, it will have its own staff, and will function independently , it will comprise of members from different parties” Majeed said.
According to Majeed the role of the independent religious institution formed under MDP coalition will be to protect the country’s religious unity, promote religious activities, taking care of mosques, sending out Imams to give religious advice, issue religious fatwa, reduce religious differences , managing affairs of Hajj pilgrimage , managing Zakat and controlling religious fanaticism.
